Job Title: Irrigation Engineer - Design Department
Job Description: The Irrigation Engineer in the Design Department, an integral part of the Project Management Office (PMO), is responsible for overseeing irrigation systems within large landscape projects. This role involves collaborating with external consultants, reviewing designs, and ensuring the successful implementation of irrigation solutions through the tendering phase for construction. The Irrigation Engineer also plays a key role in addressing ad hoc projects instructed by clients, providing expertise in irrigation design.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Irrigation System Design:
Collaborate with external design team to develop efficient and sustainable irrigation system designs for large landscape projects.
Ensure irrigation designs meet local regulations, environmental considerations, and project specifications.
Review and Coordination:
Collaborate with external consultants to review irrigation designs and provide technical input.
Coordinate with landscape architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate irrigation systems seamlessly into overall project plans.
Tendering for Construction:
Work closely with the design and project management teams to incorporate irrigation requirements into tendering documentation.
Review and evaluate irrigation contractor proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications.
Ad Hoc Project Support:
Provide expertise in irrigation design for ad hoc projects instructed by clients.
Collaborate with project managers to understand and address specific irrigation needs for each ad hoc project.
Technical Documentation:
Prepare detailed technical documentation for irrigation systems, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Ensure accuracy and clarity in irrigation-related documents for internal and external stakeholders.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular audits to ensure that irrigation systems are installed and maintained in accordance with design specifications.
Address and rectify any issues related to irrigation system performance during and after construction.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with landscape architects, horticulturists, and other design professionals to integrate irrigation solutions seamlessly into landscape projects.
Communicate effectively with external consultants and contractors to convey irrigation requirements and resolve any issues that may arise.
Sustainable Practices:
Integrate sustainable irrigation practices into designs, considering water conservation and environmental impact.
Stay updated on advancements in irrigation technology and incorporate relevant innovations into project designs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Proficient in irrigation design software and tools.
