About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Rail Systems Engineer with a proven track record in interface management. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of rail systems engineering, coupled with the ability to manage complex interfaces between various subsystems to ensure seamless integration.
The role involves working on cutting-edge rail projects, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimisation of rail systems.
You will be based in our Leeds office.
Duties & responsibilities
Lead and oversee the interface management process, ensuring effective communication and coordination between different rail subsystems, such as MEP, track, signalling, electrification, rolling stock, and communication systems.
Develop and implement strategies to identify, document, and resolve interface issues during the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, analyse, and optimise rail systems, including but not limited to MEP, Fire, signalling, train control, electrification, and communication systems.
Conduct technical assessments and provide expert guidance on system integration.
Work closely with project managers, system architects, and other stakeholders to define interface requirements and specifications.
Ensure alignment of interface management activities with project schedules, milestones, and overall objectives.
Identify potential risks related to interface management and develop mitigation plans.
Proactively address issues to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to interface requirements, design decisions, and issue resolutions.
Generate reports for project management and stakeholders on interface management progress and challenges.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of rail systems, including signalling, train control, electrification, and communication systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to rail systems.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyse complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Project management skills and the ability to work within defined timelines.
