Role Overview:
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in your area for our water division projects. You will provide design support for numerous non-infrastructure schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings and models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.
- Review Project and Construction site design.
- Lead efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget, and being accountable for risk management.
- Lead on quality management and ensuring design compliance with all applicable standards and regulations and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary analytical studies.
- Lead on work winning through bid management, tender production and preparation of proposals.
- Contribute proactively to resourcing and management of the local and wider teams.
- Manage quality through the BIM360 workflow review in line with the project timeline.
- Drive sustainability and low-carbon designs.
- Ensure designs comply with all Water industry standards and regulations, and all statutory mechanical standards and regulations.
- Develop designer alerts where lessons are to be learnt.
- Actively seek innovative technology and processes.
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
- Take on additional responsibilities to support the wider Water business (e.g., HAZOP chair, ROV facilitator, Technical
- Standards Peer Review, emergency response to incidents).
- Undertake site visits when appropriate.
- Support the development of team members by mentoring.
- Give one-to-one or team technical guidance and assistance to engineers.
- Present lessons learnt and technical developments to the engineers and wider team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience working in UK Water sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, driving successful project outcomes.
- Strong client management skills, with a passion for exceeding expectations.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution of projects
- Skill in examining tenders, market conditions and operational requirements.
- Knowledge of communications and public relations techniques.
- Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
- Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and clients.
- Preferably Chartered
- It is essential you have a degree in a mechanical engineering discipline or be able to demonstrate a degree level of knowledge through relevant experience.
- You can demonstrate a level of competence in practical mechanical design experience in the water/wastewater industry environment.
Excellent presentation skills to participate in interactive client presentations, commercial road shows, speaking at conferences and events to promote Egis’s services
